Vehicle wraps are printed on vinyl designed to cover an entire vehicle or individual panels, while vinyl signs are typically made from solid colors, with printed decals sometimes added to create graphics, layering, a halo effect, or a three-dimensional effect. If you want high-impact, photo-quality imagery across your entire vehicle, wraps are the way to go. But if you don’t need all that, or only need a small part of the design in bold graphics, then vinyl signs are definitely the best and most affordable option.
Vinyl signs typically last 6 to 12 years and stay color-stable without cracking, peeling, or shrinking over time. Wraps, by contrast, can begin to fade, crack, and shrink in as little as 30 months, and their color vibrancy may start to diminish after about 18 months.
Vinyl wraps are, on average, 70% more expensive than even the most expensive and complex vinyl signs.Take a look at this recent screenshot of wrap prices in Texas
Vinyl signs won’t damage your vehicle and can be removed easily when needed without any issues.Wraps can also be removed fairly easily, but they may cause rusting because of their inherent "vapor barrier effect" or remove the clear coat. While this is not common, and unlikely if the wraps were installed by a reputable provider, these issues have been reported.
Vinyl signs can be updated and replaced section by section without any visible fading, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the existing vinyl. Wraps, by contrast, require stripping and rewrapping the affected panel to change details or repair an area, and the faded surrounding sections will be clearly noticeable.
Weather extremes do not affect vinyl signs. They remain temperature-stable from -40°C to +80°C and resist oil, grease, detergents, airborne grime, and road dirt. They will not crack, fade, peel, or shrink throughout the material’s rated life and beyond. However, direct sunlight and weather can significantly affect wraps, causing them to fade and shrink rapidly and, if improperly installed, to delaminate, which is a major factor in the "vapor barrier effect".

Unlike wraps, our vinyl signs won’t damage your vehicle and can be easily removed when needed. Yes, installation is included with every purchase when performed at our Stahl Road location in San Antonio. We also offer installation at your business or on-site at a job site for a small additional charge to help minimize vehicle downtime. Note: weekend installation slots are in high demand and tend to fill up quickly.
Depending on the complexity and design selected, installations can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, with the average typically under 3 hours. The vehicle must remain in one location and be fully accessible for the duration of the installation. The vehicle should be washed and free of oil, dirt, and debris; however, a small amount of road dust or dirt will not affect our ability to install, as we will clean the area where the signage will be applied with degreaser and a surface treatment before installation.
We always aim to help our customers save money and will advise you on self-installation options. If your design ideas would be too difficult to install yourself, we will suggest simpler alternatives. We may decline to sell to you if your sign ideas would be too difficult to install on your own and you decline to have it installed by one of our professional installers.
